WooCommerce to Shopify Migration
Feeling stuck? Yeah, Woo does that.
Fully managed migration services from WooCommerce to Shopify, Headless Shopify, Hydrogen, or Shopify Plus.
Woo was slow. So we rebuilt their product customizer on Shopify.
This prominent New Jersey-based custom PC builder previously used Composite Products for their product configurator. The user experience was slow and disjointed.
As part of a wider move to Shopify Plus, we designed & engineered a new configurator that would integrate seamlessly into Shopify, whilst providing tooling to enable easy transfer of all their data.
WooCommerce vs. Shopify
Explore the differences between agile headless implementations with Jamstack versus traditional monolithic stacks.
WooCommerce
Host-it-yourself PHP based ecommerce platform. Slow, outdated, and difficult to scale.
Shopify
A fully managed, cloud-based SaaS ecommerce platform. Fast, scalable, and easy to use.
Tricky performance
Clients often come to us with slow WooCommerce stores. The reason? It's not so simple. Host-it-yourself platforms (like Woo) require a pristine server setup, continual monitoring, and maintenance of good practices to remain performant. The server config, plugins, and themes will all contribute here.
Fast, out-the-box
Shopify makes a point of being fast. Whether you're running directly from the platform or oh-so-smooth with a Headless setup, you can count on dependable speed with Shopify. As with anything, avoid uncompressed media files and ensure the theme (or headless storefront) is well-optimized.
Vulnerability potential
Because Woo is self-hosted, it's down to you to ensure everything is set up securely. PHP can be particularly vulnerable to attacks, and this needs to be managed holistically, through frequent updates, server maintenance, firewalls, and good practice.
Managed security
Shopify takes care of security and infrastructure on your behalf. Granted, you won't have to worry about any potential compromises of user accounts or the backend administration.
High maintenance
Managing a server, core WordPress installation, plugins, themes, and other dependencies can create a high level of maintenance burden for growing brands. All of this will be required to maintain a WooCommerce installation safely.
Nothing to do here!
In contrast to Woo, Shopify doesn't require maintenance. Your infrastructure will be managed an maintained by Shopify, freeing up time and resources for you. All you'll need to maintain with Shopify is your theme and any custom code/headless storefront.
Headless who?
It's a little more challenging to implement a headless setup with Woo. WordPress isn't natively engineered to power headless storefronts, and while there are core APIs and plugins, it's a challenge to build and maintain.
Ready for headless
Shopify provides strong out-the-box support for headless storefronts, regardless of which plan you're on. With their strong API library or Hydrogen framework, headless Shopify provides a lower barrier to entry compared to Woo.
