About The Project
MAINGEAR is a New Jersey based manufacturer of custom, high-performance PCs and workstations. As part of a move to Shopify Plus, the company approached us seeking a solution for product configurator & CPQ system development that would integrate seamlessly whilst delivering a market-provoking customer experience.
With a worldwide clientele of avid gamers, creatives, and professionals, MAINGEAR required a solution that would allow users to configure their custom PC builds with ease, whilst providing a visually engaging and interactive experience.

Process
Discovery, Research & Planning
Through a series of dynamic discovery workshops with the MAINGEAR team, we identified key components required of the build. A proposed skeleton architecture of the software was developed, with a roadmap for the project's development.
Wireframing & Prototyping
We developed a series of wireframes and prototypes to guide the subsequent design & development phases, in close collaboration with the client. These wireframes were used to develop a visual representation of the configurator's user interface.
Design & Development
Through an involved design & development process spanning several months, Cocoon delivered a radical redesign & complete re-engineering of the configurator. The system was built to be highly scalable, with a focus on user experience and performance.
Usability, QA & Launch
After a rigorous quality assurance and testing process, collaboration between MAINGEAR & Cocoon resulted in a smooth launch of the new configurator, along with MAINGEAR's move to Shopify Plus, which was completed in parallel.
